Gotye- Somebody That I Used To Know
This song makes me much less
apathetic about the direction of the
music industry as of late...
2011
(for me)
proved to be the turning point
especially with Adele's 21 releasing in the 1st quarter.
I was introduced to this song on
(whispering---American Idol when Phillip and Elise---who are my 2 faves beyond measure for their
stick to who I am persona's ---sang it in the company of a dizzying 3D optical illusion as there backdrop)
Though mellow, this track is on repeat hardcore.
Not at all a reflection of my current state,
yet the musicality, subject and that Kimbra's belt-out (whooo)
has got me in traffic wishing I was geometrically painted and
posted up next to a hot guy with an accent.

I love building my catalog with random
yesness that hits the best and most melodic chord.
I tell my hub & friends all the time, in my next life
i have to do something in the music industry or broadway.
My heart seriously zings when my ears are attended to.

Boy has it been one heck of a weekend. A rollercoaster of emotions for sure.
First and foremost....
Ms. Whitney Houston.
The Voice.
Respect must be paid for her genius.
The time to analyze her missteps haS passed because they
are no longer relevant. Let her be, now.
There will never be another.
On to
Ms. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins
(yup! super fan hand raised)
made me cry....
I have never been nervous for a performance in my life until I heard Adele was
performing for the first time since her surgery
ON THE GRAMMY STAGE LIVE.
She is the epitome of magic.
Her tone has cleared and become smooth as opposed to raspy like before, which added charm.
But that performance was F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S!
and deserving of the standing ovation.
Her talent can not be denied, for it is true and not thirsting for auto tune, fireworks, pelvic thrusts or navel baring "ensembles".
She is music.
and that is crystal clear.
All 6 awards were rightfully earned and speaking on
behalf of all her fans,
(raises imaginary glass)
Cheers to the dude that broke her heart. We are eternally grateful!!

sorry for the celebrating,
but i am super happy that music has finally turned around and is
acknowledging true talent!
I haven't been a fan of a (living) musician since Mariah had curly hair...
(actually... there was that N'Sync and Britney infatuation back in middle school)

Fawning for the ability to line my lids like she does!
But i have to say i (along with many others) are frustrated with the fashion industry and the lack of creative direction that is taking place with the cover of October's Vogue UK magazine.
The above image is flawless beauty image that appears on a fashion magazine.
Which leaves me to ponder:

Where the heck is the rest of her!?
Adele has most certainly been theeeee most influential chanteusse that has hit the airwaves. "21", i believe has taught many the difference between real music (i.e. 2011 VMA's performance shut the world up and they most certainly heard) and the benefit of auto tune
(which i must say is the robbers invisible getaway car and it completely tricks the naive ear into thinking someone has a morsel bit of talent when they in fact don't)
Full Props should be given where props are due!
This woman has a figure of a Woman!
Not of a 12 year old portraying a woman!
She has said before how much she loves and accepts her physique and that
Vogue UK is the most beautiful thing a woman can ever wear: Confidence!
It urks me to witness the blatant discrimination that occurs in this industry.
(ex. Elle featuring Gabourey Sidibe)
If a magazine is going to feature tips and tricks on beauty, maybe
they should begin with an in-house assessment of the staff
appointed to make such recommendations.
They truly have a lot to learn
