OFFICE SPACE

Pin It Now!
cups via Oh Joy for Target // Scissors

Yippee!!!! One of my favorite times of the year is around the bend!

Back to School!
No I'm not in school anymore but I just love the feeling of getting new
supplies (mmm fresh eraser smell!), back packs, crayons and pens.
And the kids go back! SAHM raise your glasses!
Just because you're not catching the bus doesn't mean
you can't treat yo'self to a helping of stellar desk essentials.
Let's walk through....

For starters, get your arse on the cool kid train and pick up a Ban.do
17 month planner...like yesterday!
If you are anything like me, you have butt tons of post-its
hangin out all over the house.  Get a handle on the mounds and add a
teaspoon of order to your life.
Tricked out with the dopest stickers that'll keep
all your important date nights and chill nights in the forefront.
And not to mention secret #bandogirlgang decoders...
(very A Christmas Story style minus the Ovaltine--ha!)
And well, it's just soooo pretty!!
I may or may not fall asleep staring at it.

tape // necklace // agenda // paper clips (Target in-store) // tray (similar)

Having fun "Desk Bits", as I like to call them, is a need.
Being a business owner there are so many ducks that have to stay in a row to
keeping order is usually at the top of the list. I figure keeping my
office supplies along the lines of my business
 - Playful and Happy - will inspire me to get things in order
faster because I am eager to use them.
(This is what I tell my husband when I come back from Target with more than toilet paper. winkwink)

For tons more office inspo and a healthy lust session over
work spaces that look like "before the project hits the fan"

Until next time,

WHITE WASHED

Pin It Now!

The deeper we fall into Summer the more I crave
bright and airy spaces to act as coffee beans for my eyes.
After a failed attempt at incorporating white bedding while trying to
create an at home getaway atmosphere,
(Note: wait until your kids are not "jumping on the bed" age),
I find myself eager to redeem myself.

Even though my heart typically belongs to eclectic patterns and bold pops
of colour, there really isn't anything more refreshing than
white on white on white with a bit of rustic charm.

Creating a light filled oasis is usually the goal.
All I hear is Madeleine Peyroux when I look at this.
(I legit shed a single, glistening tear for this one)
And don't get me started on the fresh lavender pot...

So what about you?
How do you make your home a plane free escape from
the daily dose of crazy?

Until next time...
xo,
Kel

BO-HOME

Pin It Now!

...a nook for my knacks...
All of the bits that I stuffed into my carry-on at that
very last minute...
paid the overweight luggage fee for...
Came home with $20 for.

...yes a place that can tell my story
and our story seamlessly.
a place so imperfectly perfect with corners that
will burst from the crazy amounts of laughter and
lemongrass aromatics....

...one with a soul even when it's empty...

...a retreat from the grotesqueness of the day.
a sanctuary of sorts...

WHITE WASH

Pin It Now!

discovered here

We recently stepped over to the light side and
purchased all white bedding.
Much to my husbands dismay, or should I say fear of our kids
messy tendencies, I took it upon myself to make our room
a bit more inviting by removing the dark colours that previously existed.
You've heard me whoa about how anxious I am to have a home of our own,
and how over our apartment I am and can't wait to white-wash
( a la Scandinavian decor style).
But we are simply "not there yet." So I am trying to
enjoy the present and make our current space pleasant.
Much to his surprise and mine
it now feels like we live in a hotel.
(minus the room service)
The room is ten times brighter and sexier.
I swear I am in this video on Saturday mornings.
If you are looking for a little budget friendly Spring pick me up for your bedroom
I definitely suggest a linen overhaul as an easy refresher.

INTERIOR ZEST

Pin It Now!
http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/10/two-t.html

I am here for yellow.
My grandmother had this philosophy that in times of
stress, worry, or sadness,
wear color and that color was yellow.
It was good luck.
I try to follow it in my wardrobe as much as I can...even when
I'm not sad. Yellow just lifts the mood.
But lately I have been craving it around the house.

http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/10/two-t.html

Maybe because the Autumn palette finally hit around my house
and it is laced with goldrod and bright reds.
There is a huge golden tree that sits at the end of my street
that is impossible not to stare at.

I just love the use of the color with neutrals displayed in these homes.
It looks like it smells like lemon sorbet all around.

And Holy Ceiling!!!

And in a kitchen like this, it seems mandatory to bake
pies or something with a flaky crust and filled with
gooey yesness, right?
Looks like some great conversations over mimosas
have gone down here.
What is your favorite home accent color? Or do you like to
mix it all up with multiple tones and patterns?--Kel

ROOM FOR TWO

Pin It Now!

Love the simplicity of this kid's room...
I have been plagued by the thought of how exactly we are going to make
room for our new baby.
I really would like to keep Chloe's room as her own space to "escape" to
since I know she will have that desire.
I have flashbacks of when my brother arrived, during the Christmas holiday at that
and I wasn't left with a space to call mine.
It may be only child syndrome, but heck it stuck with me for a bit as a
kid.  For now we are going into this thinking that we will create a shared
wind down and play space for them, up until we find another home.
As long as I can stick it out for about 6 months
then I should be alright.
Any of you out there battling space issues with multiple kids?
I would love some suggestions.

In the mean time, I've pinned quite a few rooms that are totally out of my reach but
still I love.---Kel

A HINT OF BRASS

Pin It Now!

I've got the itch again.
Thinking about decorating.... a space that doesn't exist yet.
We are in the embryonic phase of our house hunt,
so I can't hop on the "picking out paint colors" train just yet.
But it is so fun exploring.
I can admit that my interior design style is not 100% definite.
I have never had a space where I could completely
release my taste. Which is always evolving.
(largely because I am constantly seeing spaces that I adore--
both minimalistic to eclectic tribal to mid-century modern to shabby chic)
A week or so ago, I went to Club Monaco at Lenox and saw the most amazing chairs.
It sent me in a frenzy. I needed to find the chairs.
Sadly no one in the store knew where they were sourced.
So off to Google I went. Typing in every descriptor and low and behold
I found it!!! At Organic Modernism.
A place I have never visited and found large pieces for my interior style puzzle.
I know for a fact my heart beats really fast when brass is involve with, well, anything.
I love me a clean line and great material integration.
You have to take a visit. Especially to check out the best pink sofa
(that I know my husband would let happen.  Maybe whenever I get an office or studio space)

You got any great interior reco's? Please, please send them over this way.

L'ATELIER DES COUSINES

Pin It Now!

my heart lies in the south of France...
During my schooling, I ventured over to Europe to study abroad for one quarter.
Our campus was located in Lacoste, France. A town made up of
mountains that housed carved out dwellings, an old quarry, and much history from the Protestant/Catholic "wars" which lead to tons of ghost stories which lead to hours upon hours of
me watching The Notebook in order to fall asleep.
When I was introduced to L'Atelier Des Cousines, I was instantly transported back to my
days in Lacoste.  Visiting old printing studios carrying that same history.  Decades of mastered technique in the center of lavender robed fields.

Inspired by the textiles used for antique wool mattresses, these Barcelona made pieces boast with stories of the places once visited. The combination of
ethnic prints and bold color are everything hoped for when longing for referential home decor.

Sur La Table

Pin It Now!

our coffee table is seriously the lamest....
yes, i will admit it, publicly.
i tried to make it awesome
but with the daily fear of getting chocolate milk cup rings are PB & J smudges on my book
it just didn't make sense.
I adore my mini, but boy is she good at making messes.

I am always drooling at the onscreen lovely that is created on coffee tables
....with all there expensive fashion books and home decor guides
souvenirs from far off travels and pretty glass ware.
But it is just not sensible for my life.
If any moms are out there reading, do you have any childproof yet fab ideas
that you can loan?
