REIGN WRAP 101 : BOHO BOW

Pin It Now!

Alright ladies! I'm back with another easy headwrap tutorial using
(r-ki-tekt)'s Reign Wrap. You guys seemed to have enjoyed
the previous one so I figured let's keep it going with
the Boho Bow.
Let's begin......

So I will be honest,
I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
I use to say that I don't have a lot of time
to share them or indulge in DIY,
but now, time is one thing I have an abundance of.
But you guys may not. I thought I would share
with a couple of quick spruce ups that will make
your space yours, but seriously,
take no time and very little resources.

Let's start with a cute vessel zjush.
Say you are planning a small gals dinner at your place or just
want something pretty hanging around in your eye line.
Add some quick color with this little trick...

What you will need:
Jars (pick a size that will fit your bouquet comfortably)
Washi Tape

Remove a generous length of tape.
Begin wrapping horizontally, applying an even
amount of pressure to make sure there are no
ripples along the way.

Et Voila! A quick refresher for those flowers
that you just scooped up from the market.
Stay tuned for more quick DIY's
ahead! And as always, if there is something
specific you want to see made, shoot me a note!

SPRING SOCIAL EVENT

Pin It Now!

Last week I attended an event hosted at West Elm
and their wave of the magic wand.

West Elm is reintroducing their paper flowers for the Spring
so Amy & Ginny figured out a lovely little way to
create keepsakes from these already beautiful forever fancies.

And you wouldn't believe the greatness that could come
from the most basic of materials...
All anything needs is a squint of the eye and some love.
Using some white ink (and the most delicate flick of the wrist), adding the
the flower species name makes it a little less
Pinterest craft party and more artisanal.
They even suggested placing the flowers in the glass boxes,
which would be the perfect topper for your stack of interior books or
end table.

Definitely mosey on down to West Elm for your dose of pretty!

Cheers!---Kel

Happy Wednesday Beauts!
If you have a tons of old makeup that you can't bear to part with because you
paid so much for it this is the perfect DIY for you!

I have all these loose eyeshadow pigments that I never use, because
I rarely go out with a full face. So I hoard them "just in case".
I stumbled upon a DIY on pinterest and thought it would be
fun and easy so now I'm bringing it to you!

 Hey ya!!!
Winter skin blows.
I think we all (who live in seasonal areas) have similar sentiments
when it is 25 degrees outside with heaps of wind blasting your face.
I already gave you tips on how to care for your skin & lips
during the winter months.
But I wanted to tell you how to save that oh so sweet and valuable time.
If your anything like me, you purchase lip balms 5 at a time and
scatter them everywhere you go.
(in the car, two purses, my desk, my daughters backpack...just in case)
I typically layer my lip balms with a color, never seem to have "the one" when
 I'm looking for it.
So I figured, why not make this easier and combine my
two favs!

CUBE LIFE STYLE / 13

Pin It Now!

Hey guys!
I am at my 6 month mark in my hair journey (which it definitely is!)
I thought I'd share my recent go to do.
I've been busy keeping up with holiday demands and haven't had much time to
primp like I normally do so I have resorted to styles that require little prep time or
that I can go to sleep in.
I love the look of beachy hair, but since we're in the colder months and I'm on
the east coast, visiting a beach any time soon is not likely.
But that's not going to keep me from rocking my favorite summer style.

 1. Start with 2 side french braids. I typically tuck mine in so there isn't a wonky bend at the ends.
2. Release the pinned braids a la Pippy style.
3. Begin un-braiding one side slowly. Rushing causes frizz.
4. Repeat on the other side.
5. Give your roots a good finger fluff and separate the large sections of waves.
6. Grab a few bobbi pins or clips and you're set!!!

Simple Right!
Easy Beachy waves without the beach or heat!

** The scarf used is optional and in my case used to tame the frizz at the root.

 Happy Monday!!!

To my surprise I have gotten a few inquiries about my beauty routine. Images of my cabinet underneath my bathroom sink begin to swirl about my head when this topic of beauty products comes up.
I would consider myself to be a semi-beauty-junkie on
a budget with seasonal skin.
(Dewy and oily in the warmer months, dry in the cooler)
But the mainstay for me is to keep a healthy glow year round.
And since we are approaching the cold and dry season,
I thought it was most appropriate to share
my not so secret Beauty Secret.

A Coffee Body Scrub.

Every beauty blogger and magazine will tell you to scrub to remove dead skin and they may recommend products well into the $50 plus range, full of toxins and who-knows-what-else.
I don't know about you, but I want to know exactly what I'm going to be slathering all over me.
In this case all the ingredients can be found in your kitchen cupboards

I've posted about different ways to tie scarves around your neck, but
this video by Bri from D E S I G N L O V E F E S T
is perfect for figuring out what to do with the longer silk scarves that you may
have heaps of and are spilling out of your drawers.

Cute huh?
Hoping to score some more patterned ones on my weekend thrift run.

WEDNES-DIY: POLYGON VASE

Pin It Now!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY LOVES!!!

The Weather has been rather...gray in ATL so i have been thinking of
great (and quick) indoor crafts where i am not
left cleaning up for 8 hours

and where my mini could help.
And I found this great one from

Project Wedding

Lord knows I lurves me some mason jars, but for some cases
a clear jar just can't cut it.
Know what I am saying.

So i figured this craft is a fantastic and CARAZY easy
way to create a colorful
(or tonal or monochromatic)
display for your greenery.
No hammer, nails or shellack needed.
Consider this your rainy weekend craft!
Score!!!

Materials: planted herbs and small vases of flowers
double stick tape
12 x 12 scrapbook paper (enough for each vase)
Measure the height of your vase and cut the paper horizontally at this mark.
Scissors

STEP ONE:
Start by gathering all your vases, herbs and flowers. Use different size vases for added artistic touch. The best part of this project is that it doesn't matter what your vases look like. I used a bunch of mason jars, but glasses and thrifted vases will all look just as great when covered.

STEP TWO, THREE, & FOUR:
Begin folding the paper into itself, making eight creases of equal distance.
First fold half way, then again and again.

You should be left with a 12 inch long piece of paper folded 8 times; this will sufficiently cover a mason jar or any vase of smaller width. For wider vases, combine two papers together.

STEP FIVE
Overlap the ends. Use double sided tape or a thin layer of glue to attach them together. This will leave you with seven folds showing, a heptagon. Cut one fold off if you would prefer a thinner hexagon.

VOILA!!!!!
Stand up your paper vase and slide the actual vase inside.

Happy Crafting!!!!

Happy Hump Day Y'all!!!!
(yup, the southerner in me just eeked out)

Here is a super cute project you can do to prep for the Easter holiday
that is kind of around the corner.
The year is zooming by a little tooooo fast.
But, why not make it purty along the way.

Happy Holidays all!!!

So, I am on a mucho budget due to the wedding planning so
many of the gifts this year were handmade.
For my office buddies, I made Hot Cocoa Jars and Ornaments that
acted as gift wrap.

I will walk you through the steps to how I took
that dust collecting book
and
made magic.

Supplies:
Old Manilla papered book that you will probably never read
Elmer's spray adhesive
Glue Stick
Martha Stewart Glitter of choice
Twine

Not Pictured:
Scissors
sticky lint roller to pick up the glitter & paper afterward.

1.
Open the book to a page that will suit you.
(It would have been great if this was a holiday book instead of Agatha Christie)
Run down the center seam of the book with an exacto blade to get
a clean cut, as opposed to tearing.

2.
Accordion Fold a single sheet.
Scrunch the sheet and fold in half.

3.
Tie the folded accordion in the middle with the twine.
Snip the long ends of the twine, but not too close to the knot
so it doesn't unravel.

4.
Take scissors through the loop made by the fold
&
Snip!
Round the cut the ends or create a point.
Fancy edge shears would be fun too.

5.
Locate and separate end sheets into quarters and adhere with
glue stick or the trusty ol' hot glue.

6.
Once all points are adhered and pulled,
your pinwheel will be formed.
Then, Shalack with fine grain glitter using the spray adhesive
(Be sure to lay out newspaper, or you'll ruin your table)

Part Deux!!!!
Mini Chartreuse Trees!

Initially,
these were suppose to be green glitter trees, but with the move i misplaced

my glitter paper, so I had to be resourceful.

The Heavens opened up and shown a light down on an old J.Crew Crewcuts bag.

(which i heart specifically because of its chartreuse lining)
This makes for just the right amount of quirk that still reflects my style & personality, but is not too "out there" for the receiver of the gift.
Try other pops like hot pink snowflakes or Aqua reindeers.

Using a triangle paper puncher,
I took the stiff board used at the bottom of the bag

to make little trees
I layered the trees
(plain and glitter sandwich)

Place a dollop of hot glue on the tree and place it in the center of the Pinwheel.

Et Voila!!!
Place wherever.
In this case I wrapped them around Hot Cocoa Jars.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY and your holidays are made bright!
