DISCOVER ART : LERNERT & SANDER

Pin It Now!

For someone that use to sort her skittles first by color then into
small groups of 5
(because each serving needed 1 of each flavor),
you have no idea how visually satisfying it is to see
these perfect cubes spaced ever so carefully...
( 2,5 x 2,5 x 2,5 cm to be exact)

Lernert & Sander know just how to calm
a weeks worth of OCD brain in once
installment.  And what is even more gratifying is
being able to identify the food items.
(how mouthwatering does that orange look?)

If you are feeling like things are a bit out of sort
and organizing things is your jam,
get a load of this----
the ultimate sorting video.

Until next time.
xo,
Kel

DISCOVER ART: INALUXE

Pin It Now!

How great are these prints by Inaluxe???
When a comfortable balance between neutrals and electric color is
achieved, my eyes get excited.
I for one am a late bloomer in the love for pink department.
It actually began when started blogging, but it has taken many forms.
The Blushes, the Bubblegums, The Hots, The Neons....Now I just encapsulate
them all and say pink. But I digress...

Kristina Sostarko and Jason Odd create beautifully printed graphic blends
using the best techniques and materials, while remaining sustainable
They tend to remind me of interiors in the 70s--- possibly from the linen backgrounds
and rich mustard gratuitously used.

With a philosophy of just making it beautiful,
what's not to love!
Check out their inspiring blog too!

SUPAKITCH & KORALIE

Pin It Now!

Hey all you late night creatives.
I've been a owl for the entire month of December,
and boy is it starting to show.
Puffy eyes, gross complexion, wild hair (which I'm actually quite fond of).
I've been looking for ways to keep the juices flowing.
Especially in the wee hours of the morning.
A dose of SupaKitch & Koralie always do the trick.
I posted about the amazing duo before---when I first fell in love with them and
nothing has changed. Each time I view their pieces, I fall further and further down the
rabbit hole and get amped up about my craft.
The desire to do better than before and yet remain consistent and create a signature that
is unmistakably---me.
still vetting through this.
But for the time being I will continue to indulge in this goodness.
Bon nuit mes amis.

XOCHI SOLIS

Pin It Now!

Just checking in here.
such a busy week on my end...but then again is it ever calm.
(a very good problem to have I think)
I get terrified if my plate isn't full, but it can occasionally be very taxing on my youth.
Lord knows a decent sleep hour would be great, but goals must be met.

In the mean time...
Check out these paintings from Xochi Solis!!!
The Austin based mixed media artists' ability to layer color and texture is giving
me so much fuel right now!! The one on the bottom left kind of reminds me of a sandwich
(I mean that in the most respectable way possible)

Look how great it looks when they it is applied directly to a wall!!
Kind of wanting to try something similar...I have been experimenting at home during my "free" time (aka procrastination)
Makes me think about all the different combinations that could be
created.... Inspiring to it's fullest.
Enjoy-Kel

STIPPLING

Pin It Now!

there are times where i simply miss school...
not just because I didn't have the
ginormous list of responsibility
and got to dance around the south
as free as a bird,
(ok...maybe that is the large chunk)
but because of the projects that were given.
Yeah, the timelines were unreasonable and tight, but the
broadening of the mind and skill was almost therapeutic in a sense.

I had a stippling project during my 2nd year that drove me absolutely bonkers.
dot after dot after dot
strategically placed to ultimately create a picture.
a perfectly shaded picture without using actual strokes.
Art students typically have mini breakdowns...
this was my first
(so i kind of hold it near and dear----haha)
but the outcome made me proud.

Working in an environment that does not require me to push myself creatively
has been paralyzing, i would say.
so I have had to find other outlets to ensure that the elasticity of my talents remains.
but that is significantly difficult when time is my biggest enemy.
Sometimes i feel as if my life is one big stippled piece....
dot after dot after dot being place everywhere for a slow build...
but sometimes I would prefer a larger brush stroke...

MAKE TO BE LOVED

Pin It Now!
Handmade Portraits: YOKOO from Etsy on Vimeo.

maybe I am just simply a crybaby or emotional or overly dramatic
or maybe it is my current state that has made me so aware and
conscience of my body and brains reaction to a light and a magic that happens when
artists are free from mind control, the bondage of meeting numbers, and "winning".
There is a certain feeling that washes over me when I see
artists, photographer, writers, musicians ----creators
thrive on that "thing" that drives them to wake up in the morning and
actually take a deep breath.
That action is not always as easy as it may seem.
Yokoo, ever so eloquently, describes this and oh, how pure and natural this seems.

KOBE LEVI

Pin It Now!

stretches the imagination and creates art....for your feet
(honestly should be for the pedestal)
Taking the nuisances of walking on a sidewalks to pop stars to a 1900s animated icon
and transforming them into fantastic conversation starters.
Could you imagine clackin' around the city with a
ponytail-ed vogue-ing shoe
with a mic in tow????
